Deep Cycle Batteries of Flooded Designs
Luminous Flooded Deep cycle batteries come in two variants
Batteries which are required to discharge for considerable period of time and deliver a large part of t
heir rated capacity in each of these discharges are prone to higher rate of corrosion of grids and
shedding of active materials from plates. Hence normal flat plate batteries used in SLI applications
are not suitable.
Luminous Deep Cycle Flat Plate batteries have thick and heavy grid design with special alloys,
which retard this oxidation/ corrosion and give them a longer life in deep cycle applications. The plate
active material pasting and also the paste's mix along with special curing process hold the active
material against shedding.
The Luminous Tubular batteries even have a more robust design. The grids are replaced with
heavy spines of special alloy, which do not corrode even after 7 to 10 years of operation.
The active material is held inside polyester fiber tubes, which totally stop shedding under heavy and
deep discharge conditions.
Application
These batteries are best suitable for high ambient temperature and partial state of charge usage, they
are used in various applications like domestic inverters, off grid solar photo voltaic system, home
lighting systems, alarm systems, signaling equipments and remote telecom units.
The Key Advantages:
Medium to very long service life - ranging from 2.5 - 4 years for Deep Cycle design and up
to 7 - 10 years for ultra     Deep Cycle Tubular design. Depending on depth of discharge, frequency
of cycling and battery temperatures.
Compact size with high specific energy. Accomplished by special design of plates containers and
separators.
Very low water topping up frequency. Special alloy plates cause LOW or NO water loss from
battery.
Better Design: Better Performance
Thick flat pasted plates with selenium grids and automated vapour; curing process generates
suitable proportion of binding crystals in the plates
The Result
Much longer cycle life that most of the flat plate batteries in the world.
A cycle life of over 500 - 600 cycles under deep discharge conditions is delivered.

The tubular plate batteries are designed extremely strong and can withstand 1400 cycles of deep
discharge at 80% discharge levels in its life time
All the plate grids in flat plates and the spines in the Tubular plates are cast in automated high-pressure
machine with maximum 2.5% antimony alloy. Every plate and every cell element is carefully weighed
to achieve uniformity within a close tolerance level. Very low internal resistance is achieved by using
extra large inter cell connection which are tested 100% in the assembly line and also by high porosity
PE (Poly-Ethylene) separators. Tough and high tensile poly - ethylene pocket separators are used in
place of cheap PVC separators that are used by many others. This adds to reliability under abusive
conditions and stops failure from short circuits.
    Key Advantages:
Up to 10 year of service life
  Very-very low water loss
Very-very low self-discharge loss. Due to this, the battery can be stored in charged condition, for
very long time without     getting discharged.
All batteries of same type will have very uniform internal resistance. Large numbers can be
connected in series or     parallel without any danger of misbalance within the battery bank.
Very low internal resistance gives you high voltage on discharge and extra back up on load.
You get longer back up in a     Luminous Digital Power Battery as compared with any other
battery of same capacity, much better value for money.
Ceramic vent plugs arrest evaporation loss of water.
The tubular batteries are used in the following applications: UPS systems where power
demand is for longer period, Inverters under same conditions, Solar PV systems, Telecom
applications - both Base stations and at Repeater stations, Backup systems in Power stations
and Sub stations and Switch yards, Railways signaling use, etc
